How to Apply for Thai Maaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam 2026?

The Thai Maaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam 2026 provides a 1-gram gold ring to eligible newborn babies born in Government hospitals and Primary Health Centres in Tamil Nadu. The scheme covers eligible babies born from 22 June 2026 onwards.

Step 1: Make sure the baby is born in a Government hospital

To receive the benefit, the baby should be born alive in an eligible Government hospital or Government Primary Health Centre in Tamil Nadu. Babies born in private hospitals and later admitted to Government hospitals are not covered under the scheme.

Step 2: Complete the mother`s pregnancy registration

The mother should ensure that her pregnancy-related details are properly registered through the Government health system, including the required PICME/RCH details, wherever applicable.

Step 3: Keep the mother`s Tamil Nadu residence proof ready

The scheme is intended for babies born to mothers from families permanently residing in Tamil Nadu. Parents should therefore keep valid residence-related documents ready for verification, such as Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Voter ID or Nativity Certificate, as applicable.

Step 4: Provide the required details at the hospital

After delivery, the hospital will record and verify the details of the mother and newborn. Parents should provide the required identification, residence and pregnancy or birth-related information when requested by the hospital authorities.

Step 5: Hospital authorities will verify eligibility

The concerned Government hospital or health officials will verify the baby`s place of birth, date of birth and other required details. Parents do not need to submit a separate application through the regular e-Sevai portal based on the currently available scheme guidelines.

Step 6: Check the gold ring distribution process before discharge

For babies born in Government hospitals, parents should check with the hospital authorities regarding the gold ring distribution before the mother and baby are discharged. The current guidelines provide for distribution to eligible newborns on the day of discharge during the specified distribution hours.

Step 7: Receive the 1-gram gold ring

After the eligibility and records are verified, the eligible newborn will receive the 1-gram gold ring under the Thai Maaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam.

Documents to Keep Ready

Parents can keep the following documents and details ready for verification: Mother`s Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Voter ID, Nativity or Residence Certificate, PICME/RCH ID details, hospital admission and delivery records, newborn`s birth-related details and any other document requested by the concerned Government hospital.

Is There an Online Application?

At present, the available Government information does not specify a separate online application process for parents to apply for this gold ring through e-Sevai or another portal. The benefit is being implemented through Government health facilities and their records.

Important: Parents should contact the concerned Government hospital or Primary Health Centre for the latest distribution procedure and document requirements, as implementation guidelines may be updated.
