Chennai EMU Train Services Cancelled and Partially Cancelled on June 5 Due to Maintenance Block

Passengers travelling on the Chennai suburban railway network are advised to take note of temporary changes in EMU train services announced by Southern Railway. The changes are being implemented due to a Line Block and Power Block scheduled between Kodambakkam and St. Thomas Mount stations on the Chennai Egmore–Villupuram section.

The maintenance work will be carried out during the night hours from 11:05 PM to 3:05 AM on June 5 and June 6, 2026, resulting in the cancellation and partial cancellation of select suburban train services.

As part of the operational changes, Train No. 40089 Beach–Tambaram EMU, scheduled to depart from Chennai Beach at 11:40 PM, and Train No. 40091 Beach–Tambaram EMU, scheduled to leave Chennai Beach at 11:59 PM, will be fully cancelled on June 5.

In addition, Train No. 40208 Guduvancheri–Beach EMU, departing Guduvancheri at 11:20 PM, and Train No. 40572 Chengalpattu–Beach EMU, departing Chengalpattu at 11:00 PM, will be partially cancelled. These trains will not operate between Tambaram and Chennai Beach, while services on the remaining portions of their routes will run as scheduled.

Southern Railway has requested passengers to make alternate travel arrangements and check the latest train running information before commencing their journey. The maintenance work is aimed at improving infrastructure reliability and ensuring safer rail operations on this busy suburban corridor.
