IIT Madras Opens Admissions for BS Degree Programmes 2026; Apply Before May 31
Indian Institute of Technology Madras has invited applications for its BS degree programmes for the 2026 academic cycle. Students can apply online till May 31 without the need to clear the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
The institute is offering flexible and industry-focused programmes in emerging fields, allowing learners from different educational backgrounds to pursue higher studies alongside their regular degree courses or professional careers.
BS Programmes Offered by IIT Madras
The following BS programmes are available for admission:
- BS in Data Science and Applications
- BS in Electronic Systems
- BS in Management and Data Science
- BS in Aeronautics and Space Technology
The courses are open to anyone who has completed Class 12, and there is no upper age limit for applicants.
Flexible Learning Without JEE
One of the major highlights of these programmes is that students can gain access to IIT-Madras quality education without appearing for JEE. The courses are conducted primarily online, while examinations will be held in person at designated centres across India.
Students pursuing degrees such as BCom, BSc, BBA, or Engineering can also enrol simultaneously and complete the BS programmes alongside their regular studies.
Multiple Exit Options for Students
IIT-Madras stated that the programmes offer flexible academic pathways. Depending on their progress and career goals, students can exit with:
- Certificate
- Diploma
- BS Degree
According to Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses), IIT-M, the programmes are designed to provide flexibility without compromising educational quality.
Fee Support Up to 75%
The institute also announced financial assistance for eligible students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Such students can receive fee support of up to 75%, making quality higher education more accessible.
