Tamil Nadu Government has invited applications for the Tamil Scholars Financial Assistance Scheme 2025
The Tamil Nadu Government has launched a welfare scheme to support senior Tamil scholars who have dedicated their lives to the promotion of the Tamil language. Under this scheme, eligible scholars will receive a monthly assistance of ₹7,500 plus ₹500 as medical allowance (₹8,000 in total). Beneficiaries are also entitled to free travel in Tamil Nadu government buses.
In case of the scholar’s demise, the widow, unmarried daughter, or widowed daughter will continue to receive ₹3,000 per month as financial support.
For the year 2025-26, the number of beneficiaries will be increased from 100 to 150 scholars annually, with an additional budget allocation of ₹48 lakh.
Eligibility:
- Minimum age: 58 years
- Annual income: below ₹1.20 lakh
- Must have contributed significantly to Tamil literature or language
