Good news!! 20 Volvo luxury buses to be available for public use in TN during the Pongal festival!!
The upcoming Pongal festival in 2026 would be bringing double delight on the faces of many people in Tamil Nadu. One delight would be the Pongal festival and the other one would be regarding the introduction new luxury buses. Incredible isn`t it!!
It must be noted that 20 Volvo buses with state-of-art luxury facilities would be put into use by the TN State Express Transport Corporation.
More than 1080 ordinary and air-conditioned diesel buses are being operated by TN Express Transport Corporation for the sake of the public in TN. More than one lakh persons travel in these buses daily. Truth is that buses with luxury facilities like those operated by the private omni bus operators are not operated by the TN Express Transport Corporation. As a result, people who want to travel luxuriously prefer omni buses instead of TN Express buses.
In this situation, the TN State Express Transport Corporation has decided to operate 20 Volvo buses for the public with the aim of providing services to the passengers on par with that of private omni buses.
According to some officials belonging to TN State Express Transport Corporation, it was already announced in the state assembly that Volvo state-of-art luxury buses would be operated by the TN State Express Transport Corporations also on par with those operated by the private omni bus operators. They have added that according to this announcement made at the assembly 20 volvo luxury buses would be operated for the very first time.
Information collected is that each of these buses has been purchased for an amount of Rs 1.15 cr. As many as 51 persons can travel in these buses at a time.
Various facilities that would be available in these new Volvo buses are luxury beds with air-conditioning, mobile phone charging facilities, individual lighting facilities for each passenger etc.
It is worthy to note here that these Volvo buses have been designed to travel without any vibrations. Point to be noted is that the purchase order has been issued to Volvo.
