Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Moderate Rain Likely Till January 18
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai has forecast light to moderate rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu for the next six days, from January 13 to January 18.
According to the weather bulletin, a lower-level atmospheric cyclonic circulation over the Kumari Sea and adjoining areas is influencing rainfall activity. Due to this system, thunderstorms with lightning are likely at a few places in South Tamil Nadu, isolated locations in North Tamil Nadu, and across Puducherry and Karaikal.
The Chennai city and suburban regions are expected to witness partly cloudy skies.
Rainfall Report
In the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 AM on January 12, Uthu and Nalumukku in Tirunelveli district recorded the highest rainfall of 70 mm. Several areas in the Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, Dindigul, and Nagapattinam districts also received moderate rainfall.
Fishermen Alert
The IMD has warned that strong winds up to 55 kmph are likely on January 13 and 14 over the Gulf of Mannar and Kumari Sea. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
