Tamil Nadu to Operate 5,300 Special Buses for Four-Day Weekend from October 1

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations (TNSTCs) have planned to operate around 5,300 special buses across the state from October 1 to 4 to manage the expected passenger rush during the four-day weekend.

The extended weekend includes Thursday, October 1, Friday, October 2 (Gandhi Jayanthi), Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4.

Special Buses from Kilambakkam

From Kilambakkam, 1,580 special buses will operate on October 1 to destinations including Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tirupur.

Another 745 buses will operate on October 2 and 895 buses on October 3.

Services from Koyambedu and Madhavaram

From Koyambedu, 220 special buses will operate on October 1 to Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru. Another 115 buses will operate each on October 2 and 3.

From Madhavaram, 185 special buses will operate on October 1, while 90 buses each will operate on October 2 and 3 to destinations including Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Vellore, Hosur and Puducherry.

Additionally, 200 special buses will operate from Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode and Coimbatore to various destinations.

1,471 Special Buses for Return Journey

To manage the return rush to Chennai and Bengaluru, 1,471 special buses will be operated from various destinations on Sunday, October 4, based on passenger demand.

According to TNSTC, advance bookings currently stand at 28,402 passengers for October 1, 5,497 for October 2, 6,744 for October 3 and 24,123 for October 4. Bookings are expected to increase as the weekend approaches.

Passengers can book tickets in advance through TNSTC Online Booking or the TNSTC mobile app to avoid last-minute congestion.
