Purpose:
The Addition of New Family Member in Ration Card service enables existing ration card holders to add new family members to their household ration card through the e-District portal. This service is designed for:

- Families with new births (newborn babies needing inclusion in ration card)
- Newly married couples (spouse joining the household)
- Elderly parents/family members moving in with the family
- Adopted children requiring inclusion in family records
- Any dependent family member not currently listed on the ration card

Required Information:

Mandatory Details:

- Registered Mobile Number (10-digit mobile linked to ration card)
- Smart Card Number (existing ration card number)
- Details of new family member(s) (name, age, relationship, etc.)
- Supporting documents for proof of relationship/identity

Special Requirements:

- Mobile OTP Verification: Application requires OTP verification on registered mobile number
- Auto-Fetch Details: Applicant details automatically fetch from registered data upon OTP verification
- Existing Card Required: Must have a valid existing ration card (Smart Card)
- Relationship Proof: Must establish relationship with head of family
- Document Upload: Supporting documents required for each new member added

Step-by-Step Application Process:

1. Access the Portal: Login to the Tamil Nadu e-Sevai Portal (https://tnesevai.tn.gov.in) as an Operator

2. Navigate to Service:
- Click on Services from the left panel
- Select Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department
- Click on PDS-502 Addition of New Family Member in Ration Card

3. SECTION 1: Register Mobile Number Verification
- Enter the registered 10-digit mobile number
- Enter the Captcha code
- Click Submit

4. SECTION 2: OTP Verification
- An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to the registered mobile number
- Enter the received OTP number
- System verifies and proceeds

5. SECTION 3: Applicant Details and Smart Card Number
- After OTP verification, details auto-fetch
- System displays existing applicant information
- Smart Card Number appears automatically
- Review details for accuracy

6. Card Related Service Request
Service type is automatically set as "Addition of Family Member". Proceed to add member details.

7. SECTION 4: Addition of New Family Members
For each new member, provide:
- Name
- Relationship with head of family
- Date of Birth/Age
- Gender
- Marital Status
- Aadhaar number (if available)
- Educational qualification (optional)
- Occupation (optional)
Click Save after each entry and repeat for additional members.

8. Accept Declaration and Submit
- Review all details
- Click Accept
- Click Submit

9. Make Payment:
- Click Make Payment
- Review Service Fees
- Click Confirm Payment

10. Download Acknowledgement Receipt:
- Receipt appears after payment
- Click Print Receipt
- Save using Transaction Number

Document Requirements:

- Proof of relationship (birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.)
- Age proof for new member
- Photograph (passport size)
- Aadhaar card (if available)
- Address proof (if required)
- Existing ration card copy
- Signed declaration form
- Medical certificate (if applicable)

After Submission:
- Track using Transaction/Application Number
- Officials verify application
- Approval by Civil Supplies Department
- Ration card updated upon approval

- Mobile number must be registered with ration card
