Diwali Special Trains Announced Between Chennai Central and Podanur, Tambaram and Nagercoil

Southern Railway has announced two special trains to manage the additional passenger rush during the Diwali festive season. The special services will operate between Chennai Central and Podanur, and between Tambaram and Nagercoil, on November 6 and on the return journey dates.

Advance reservations for these special trains are scheduled to begin on October 29, 2026.

Chennai Central - Podanur Special Train

Train No. 06023 will depart from Chennai Central at 11.55 PM on Friday, November 6, and arrive at Podanur at 9.15 AM the following day.

The return service, Train No. 06024, will leave Podanur at 11.30 PM on November 9 and reach Chennai Central at 9.35 AM the next morning.

The train will stop at the following stations:

- Perambur

- Tiruvallur

- Katpadi

- Jolarpettai

- Salem

- Erode

- Tiruppur

Tambaram - Nagercoil Special Train

Train No. 06153 will depart from Tambaram at 11.55 PM on Friday, November 6, and arrive at Nagercoil at 3.30 PM the following day.

The return service, Train No. 06154, will depart from Nagercoil at 9 PM on Monday, November 9, and reach Tambaram at 11.30 AM the next day.

The train will operate via the following stations:

- Chengalpattu

- Villupuram

- Chidambaram

- Sirkazhi

- Mayiladuthurai

- Kumbakonam

- Thanjavur

- Tiruchirappalli

- Dindigul

- Madurai

- Tirunelveli

- Valliyur

Diwali Special Train Ticket Reservations

Reservations for both special trains are scheduled to open on October 29, 2026. Passengers planning to travel during the Diwali period can check ticket availability and booking details through the official Indian Railways reservation channels.
