Coimbatore FinTech Hub: TIDCO Invites Bids for Rs 400-Crore Digital Project

The proposed Rs 400-crore Digital FinTech Hub in Coimbatore has taken its first major step towards implementation, with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) inviting bids to appoint a consultant for preparing a Techno-Economic Feasibility Report (TEFR).

The development comes weeks after Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced the project in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. The feasibility study will assess the project`s technical and economic viability and help determine the framework for its implementation.

Rs 400-Crore Digital FinTech Hub in Coimbatore

The proposed Digital FinTech Hub is aimed at strengthening Tamil Nadu`s financial technology ecosystem and creating a platform for technology-driven financial services.

The consultant appointed by TIDCO will prepare a detailed techno-economic feasibility report covering the project`s viability, requirements and possible implementation strategy.

Coimbatore to Expand Its Technology Ecosystem

The initiative is part of Tamil Nadu`s efforts to expand its technology and innovation ecosystem beyond Chennai.

Coimbatore is already a major industrial and technology centre with an established IT ecosystem and several technology companies operating from its IT parks. The city also has a regional presence of the Tamil Nadu Technology (iTNT) Hub, supporting startups, researchers and industries in western Tamil Nadu.

TIDCO`s FinTech Development Plans

TIDCO has previously undertaken projects aimed at developing Tamil Nadu`s FinTech infrastructure, including FinTech City and FinTech Tower at Nandambakkam in Chennai.

The proposed Coimbatore FinTech Hub is expected to build on this ecosystem and create opportunities for financial technology companies, startups and technology-driven financial services.

The appointment of a consultant will enable the government to undertake a detailed assessment before moving to the next stages of planning and implementation.
