Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Rain Expected in Chennai and Northern Districts on September 25–26

Tamil Nadu is likely to receive moderate rainfall in several districts on Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26, 2026, following changes in wind patterns caused by a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal.

The deep depression over the central-west and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards and crossed the coast near Kalingapatnam early Thursday morning at around 1 a.m.

Moderate Rain Likely in Chennai

Due to the change in wind direction, moderate rain is likely in Chennai and several northern districts of Tamil Nadu on September 25 and 26.
The districts that may receive moderate rainfall include:

- Chennai
- Kancheepuram
- Chengalpattu
- Tiruvallur
- Villupuram
- Kallakurichi
- Vellore
- Tirupattur
- Ranipet

The Western Ghats districts are also likely to experience moderate rainfall during this period.

Light Rain in Other Parts of Tamil Nadu

Apart from the above districts, light rain is likely at one or two places in other parts of Tamil Nadu. Puducherry and Karaikal may also receive light rainfall.

The weather conditions are linked to changes in wind patterns following the movement of the deep depression across the Bay of Bengal and its landfall near the Andhra Pradesh coast.
