Tamil Nadu Identifies 14,840 Acres for 30 New Industrial Parks

The Tamil Nadu government has identified 14,839.62 acres across 30 locations for developing new industrial parks as part of SIPCOT’s land-bank creation initiative. The move is aimed at expanding industrial infrastructure, attracting investments and creating new employment opportunities across the State.

Thoothukudi Gets the Largest Land Parcels

Among the identified locations, Mudivaithanendal in Thoothukudi has the largest land parcel at 2,570.27 acres. It is followed by Sillanatham Phase-II with 1,293.87 acres and Umarikottai with 1,058.74 acres, both in Thoothukudi.

Other major land parcels include:

Nallur, Chengalpattu: 1,004.07 acres

Pallathur, Sivaganga: 813.89 acres

Tirupulivanam, Kancheepuram: 800.16 acres

Thuvakudi-Navalpattu, Tiruchy: 696.17 acres

Cheppakkam, Cuddalore: 599.09 acres

Paiyanur, Chengalpattu: 544.68 acres

The identified lands are spread across 17 districts, including Chengalpattu, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Kallakurichi, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Tiruvarur, Chennai, Thoothukudi, Villupuram, Ramanathapuram, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Namakkal, Tirupattur, Tiruchy and Sivaganga.

44 More Industrial Parks Under Land Acquisition

Apart from the 30 locations already identified, land acquisition is currently underway for another 44 industrial parks covering 33,647.82 acres across Tamil Nadu.

SIPCOT currently operates 54 industrial parks, including eight Special Economic Zones (SEZs), across 27 districts. Together, these parks cover around 50,059.75 acres, housing 3,596 industrial units.

According to the 2026-27 Policy Note, SIPCOT’s industrial parks have attracted investments of approximately ₹2.47 lakh crore and generated around 9.60 lakh jobs.

Tamil Nadu Expands Electronics Manufacturing Infrastructure

The State is also developing two major electronics manufacturing clusters at Manallur and Pillaipakkam.

The Manallur cluster will cover 474 acres at an estimated project cost of ₹587.47 crore, while the Pillaipakkam cluster will cover 379 acres with an estimated investment of ₹440 crore.

The clusters are expected to provide specialised facilities such as:

- Electronics testing and certification laboratories

- PCB design and rapid prototyping centre

- Testing facilities for batteries and chargers

These facilities are intended to support electronics manufacturers and strengthen Tamil Nadu’s industrial ecosystem.

Plug-and-Play Industrial Parks

SIPCOT is also moving towards plug-and-play industrial spaces, where essential infrastructure and factory facilities are developed in advance. This model can help companies begin production faster after setting up operations.

Such facilities are being developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at Vallam-Vadagal, Oragadam Medical Devices Park, Panapakkam, Gangaikondan, Shoolagiri and Manallur.

The combined estimated cost of these developments is around ₹1,657.46 crore.

Major Industrial Expansion Across Tamil Nadu

The identification of nearly 14,840 acres for 30 new industrial parks, along with land acquisition for 44 additional parks, marks a major expansion of Tamil Nadu’s industrial infrastructure.

With new industrial clusters, electronics manufacturing facilities and plug-and-play spaces, the State is looking to attract more companies, increase investment and generate employment opportunities across multiple districts.
