Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram Scheme: CM Vijay to Launch 1-Gram Gold Ring Scheme in Madurai Today

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is scheduled to launch the Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram Scheme (Maternal Uncle Gold Ring Scheme) at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai today, September 28, 2026. Under the scheme, eligible newborn babies delivered at government hospitals in Tamil Nadu will receive a one-gram gold ring.

One-Gram Gold Ring for Newborn Babies

The Tamil Nadu Gold Ring Scheme provides a one-gram gold ring to eligible children born in government hospitals and government health institutions across the state.

The scheme applies to eligible newborns regardless of whether they are the first, second or subsequent child. The benefit is also provided without discrimination based on the child`s gender.

Thaimaman Gold Ring Scheme Eligibility

According to the scheme guidelines, the key eligibility requirements include:

- The child must be born at a government hospital or government health institution.

- The mother must be a resident of Tamil Nadu.

- The mother must have completed PICME registration.

- The mother must have an RCH ID.

- Eligible newborns are covered irrespective of their birth order.

Documents such as a ration card, voter ID, Aadhaar card, labour welfare board identity card or residence certificate may be used as proof of Tamil Nadu residency, subject to verification.

Gold Rings for Babies Born From June 22

The Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram Scheme is applicable to eligible babies born from June 22, 2026.

Children born in government hospitals between June 22 and September 27 are scheduled to receive their gold rings through designated distribution centres across Tamil Nadu.

From the launch date onwards, arrangements have been made to provide the benefit to eligible newborns through the government healthcare system.

No Separate Application Required

Eligible beneficiaries do not need to submit a separate online or offline application to receive the gold ring.

The scheme`s beneficiary details will be processed through the relevant government healthcare and registration systems, subject to the eligibility requirements.

The Thaimaman Gold Ring Scheme is being launched at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai on September 28, 2026.
