Tamil Nadu is currently experiencing an increase in the impact of the Southwest Monsoon, with several northern districts receiving rainfall. In this regard, the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has warned that rain is likely to continue in Chennai and Chengalpattu districts until 10 AM today.

A yellow alert has been issued for both districts, forecasting light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning until 10 AM.

According to the weather forecast issued yesterday afternoon, on September 11, moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph is likely at isolated places in the Western Ghats districts.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph is also expected at isolated places in Cuddalore, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Madurai, Virudhunagar and Sivaganga districts.

Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur at isolated places in other parts of Tamil Nadu, as well as in Puducherry and Karaikal.

On September 12, moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph is likely at isolated places in Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Virudhunagar and Sivaganga districts.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph may also occur at isolated places along the south coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected at isolated places in other parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
