Online applications for admission to government arts and science colleges in Tamil Nadu are open until May 27 through www.tngasa.in. There are 176 colleges offering 159 courses with a total of 1,25,345 seats. Higher Education Minister Govi. Chezhiyan launched the admission portal recently.
Students can apply from home or through the Student Admission Help Centers set up at the colleges. They must register their course and college preferences online. Separate rank lists will be prepared for Tamil and English literature courses based on respective subject marks. For other courses, the rank will be calculated based on the best four subject scores (out of 400 marks). Colleges will issue admission allotments based on these ranks.
For government polytechnic colleges, applications can be submitted at www.tnpoly.in until May 23. The site also supports applications for direct second-year admissions and part-time diploma courses. Students can apply online or via district service centers, whose list is available on the website. An additional 570 seats have been introduced this year with the launch of new courses.
