On World Music Day, the Meghalaya Government officially announced the much-awaited Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival 2025, headlined by global music sensations Jason Derulo and The Script. Scheduled for November 14–15, the festival promises a spectacular citywide celebration, from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to Ward’s Lake.
CM Conrad K. Sangma unveiled the state’s bold vision of a Concert Economy, already generating a 5.7x ROI and creating thousands of jobs. With ₹23.5 crore invested, the cultural sector has sparked over ₹133 crore in economic impact, transforming Meghalaya into a global music and tourism hotspot.
The announcement also marked the Season 3 launch of the Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project, with performances, awards, and a soulful set by Anuv Jain, who hailed Shillong as one of India’s best concert destinations.
With more artists to be revealed soon, Meghalaya is setting the stage for a trillion-rupee creative economy powered by music, culture, and community.
