Sri Nitya Kalyana Perumal Temple is a famous Vaishnavite temple located at Tiruvidandhai near Kovalam on the East Coast Road, close to Chennai. Lord Perumal appears in a majestic standing form facing east, with the Vimana above the sanctum known as Kalyana Vimanam.

Among the 108 Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu, this temple is unique for its Wedding Festival, which is celebrated throughout the year. The temple is especially known for prayers related to marriage delays.

The temple is associated with Saints Tirumangai Azhwar and Manavala Mamunigal. Lord Perumal appears as Varaha Murthy with Akhilavalli Thayar seated on His left lap.

Temple History

According to temple legend, Lord Narayana appeared as Varaha and married 360 daughters of Sage Kalava Maharshi, marrying one daughter each day. On the final day, He merged all 360 daughters into one form and placed them on His left lap. This is believed to be the origin of the name Tiruvidandhai.
