4 Express Trains Resume Operations from Chennai Egmore Station

Four express trains that were temporarily shifted to Chennai Tambaram station due to redevelopment work at Egmore have resumed operations from Chennai Egmore from Wednesday.

The redevelopment work at Chennai Egmore railway station is being carried out at a cost of ₹842 crore. A 120-metre-long and 18-metre-wide steel foot overbridge is being constructed as part of the project.

Due to the construction work, train operations on platforms 1 to 5 were temporarily suspended. This work has now been completed, and construction has begun on platforms 6 to 11.

Platforms 4 to 8 at Egmore are used for express trains travelling to southern districts. Due to the bridge construction work, four express trains, including the Uzhavan Express, were shifted to Tambaram from August 5.

As the redevelopment work on the tracks used for express trains has been completed, the four trains resumed operations from Chennai Egmore from Wednesday, August 26.
