Boon for passengers!! - By the end of September, 2nd A/C EMU train will be delivered by ICF to SR!!
Passengers travelling between Chennai Central and Arakkonam have now got a reason to rejoice!!
The Integral Coach Factory in Chennai is very busy now. Ten orders have been issued to ICF for 2025-26. It is noteworthy that currently 2 a/c EMU trains one to Southern Railways/SR and one to Eastern Railways are ready to be delivered. By the end of this September, ICF would deliver its second EMU trains to SR. This was brought out by an official from ICF. Now, there is only one a/c EMU train operating between Chennai Beach and Chengalpet. It must be noted that when inaugurated there were many criticisms for timings. Passenger`s feedbacks was taken into account for altering the timings.
Important piece of information is that the second a/c EMU trains would operate between Chennai Central and Arakkonam. There are no metro trains along this important route and due to this many passengers would be benefited. It is known that a/c EMU trains would be preferred by commuters who travel long distances.
It was revealed by Mr. T. Sadagopan from Pattabiram that SR must reduce the ticket cost and also provide convenient timings for the passengers. For 10kms, a/c EMU ticket rate starts at Rs 35 and goes up to Rs 105 for 56-60kms.
