Seven Cars Collide Near Pulipakkam on GST Road, Two-Km Traffic Jam

Traffic was severely affected on the GST Road near Pulipakkam in Chengalpattu after seven cars were involved in a collision on Monday afternoon. The Pulipakkam car accident caused a traffic queue stretching nearly two kilometres and disrupted vehicle movement on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway for more than two hours.

A large number of people who had travelled to their native places for the three-day holiday began returning to Chennai in large numbers from Monday afternoon. The heavy flow of vehicles towards the city resulted in significant congestion on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway, with traffic moving slowly in several stretches.

Seven Cars Involved in Collision Near Pulipakkam

According to police, the seven cars collision occurred when a car travelling on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway suddenly applied its brakes and stopped near Pulipakkam.

Several cars were travelling behind the vehicle, and their drivers were unable to stop in time. As a result, the vehicles collided with one another, leading to a seven-car pile-up on the highway.

Since traffic was already moving slowly due to the heavy congestion, no one involved in the accident sustained any major injuries.

GST Road Traffic Disrupted for More Than Two Hours

The accident caused severe GST Road traffic congestion, with vehicles forming a queue of nearly two kilometres. The incident added to the already heavy traffic caused by the post-holiday return of passengers towards Chennai.

Following the accident, Chengalpattu Taluk police rushed to the spot. Police removed the vehicles involved in the collision and took steps to regulate traffic and restore the normal flow of vehicles.

Despite these efforts, the Chengalpattu traffic situation remained heavily affected on the Chennai-Trichy National Highway for more than two hours.

Police Investigate Pulipakkam Accident

Chengalpattu Taluk police have registered a case in connection with the Pulipakkam car accident and are conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the seven-car collision.
