Kia Sorento Launched in India with Level 2 ADAS and Two Engine Options

Kia India has launched the new Kia Sorento in the Indian market, positioning it above the Carens Clavis as a larger seven-seater SUV. The new Kia Sorento has been introduced at a starting price of Rs. 27.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Sorento measures more than 4.8 metres in length and has a wheelbase of 2.8 metres. It features 19-inch alloy wheels, vertically stacked LED DRLs and tail lamps, along with a rear spoiler featuring a hidden wiper.

Kia Sorento Features

The Kia Sorento comes with a comprehensive list of features expected by customers. It is available with two interior theme options and gets a power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support. A 12-speaker Bose sound system and panoramic sunroof are also offered.

The SUV also features a head-up display, along with a curved dual-screen setup comprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The second row gets ventilated captain seats with slide and recline functions. The third-row seats can also be folded remotely.

In terms of safety, the Sorento comes equipped with 10 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, hill descent control, a 360-degree camera and a digital rear-view mirror.

Engine Options

The Kia Sorento is available with two powertrain options. The first is a hybrid system featuring a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 177 hp and 265 Nm of torque, paired with a 64 hp electric motor.

For customers who prefer diesel engines, the SUV is also offered with a 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Both powertrains come with three drive and terrain mode options, allowing drivers to select different settings based on driving conditions.

In the seven-seater SUV segment, the Kia Sorento will compete with models such as the MG Hector Tomahawk, Toyota Innova Hycross and Mahindra XUV 7XO.
