Chief Minister Vijay Hoisted National Flag at Fort St. George on 80th Independence Day

To mark the country’s 80th Independence Day, Chief Minister Vijay hoisted the national flag and delivered an address from the ramparts of Fort St. George on Friday, August 15.

TVK had formed the government with the support of its alliance partners after winning the recent Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. The party’s leader, Vijay, assumed office as Chief Minister on May 10.

Since taking office, Chief Minister Vijay had implemented various administrative reforms. As the nation celebrated its 80th Independence Day, he hoisted the national flag for the first time from the ramparts of Fort St. George in Chennai and delivered an Independence Day address. He also presented various awards.

Earlier, at 8:30 AM, Chief Secretary M. Saikumar welcomed Chief Minister Vijay upon his arrival near the fort ramparts and introduced the police officials to him.

Subsequently, after inspecting the guard of honour presented by various police contingents, Chief Minister Vijay hoisted the national flag at 8:45 AM.
