Tamil Nadu to Set Up ₹3,200 Crore SIPCOT Industrial Parks in Backward Districts

The Tamil Nadu government has announced plans to establish world-class SIPCOT Industrial Parks in backward districts over the next five years at an estimated investment of ₹3,200 crore. The initiative aims to accelerate industrial growth, attract investments, and create employment opportunities across the State.

The announcement was made during the presentation of the Tamil Nadu Budget 2026–27, highlighting the government`s continued focus on strengthening the State`s industrial ecosystem and promoting balanced regional development.

₹35,062 Crore Worth of Investment Agreements Signed

The government stated that since assuming office, it has signed seven Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹35,062 crore. These investment agreements are expected to generate 14,790 new employment opportunities across various sectors.

To further strengthen the industrial sector, the State will introduce a new Tamil Nadu Industrial Policy aimed at improving economic growth and enhancing the ease of doing business. A comprehensive Tamil Nadu Industrial Skills Database will also be created to help investors identify skilled workforce availability across the State.

New SIPCOT Industrial Parks to Boost Regional Development

To encourage industrialisation in underdeveloped regions, the government will establish world-class SIPCOT Industrial Parks in backward districts with an investment of ₹3,200 crore over the next five years. The project is expected to improve infrastructure, attract manufacturing industries, and create long-term employment opportunities.

Tuticorin and Tirunelveli to Become Aerospace Manufacturing Hub

The districts of Tuticorin (Thoothukudi) and Tirunelveli will be developed as a dedicated Aerospace Manufacturing Hub, positioning southern Tamil Nadu as a key destination for aerospace industries and advanced manufacturing.

₹5 Crore Allocated for AI Innovation City

The State government has allocated ₹5 crore to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Innovation City, named Arivagam, to promote research, innovation, and emerging technologies.

₹4,414 Crore Allocated for Industrial Promotion

The Integrated Industrial, Investment Promotion, and Commerce Department has been allocated ₹4,414 crore in the 2026–27 State Budget to support industrial development, investment promotion, infrastructure expansion, and employment generation.
