After a brief dip in temperatures over the past few days, heat levels have increased again across several parts of Tamil Nadu, with 12 locations recording temperatures above 100°F on Tuesday.

Chennai Meenambakkam recorded the highest temperature at 104°F, while Chennai Nungambakkam, Madurai Airport, Tiruttani, Vellore, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Karur Paramathi, Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, and Palayamkottai also crossed the 100°F mark.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds in Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, and Western Ghats districts today. Heavy rain is likely in parts of Theni district.

Chennai is expected to witness partly cloudy skies with chances of light rain and thunderstorms in some areas. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 39-40°C.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into Tamil Nadu coastal areas, the Gulf of Mannar, and the Kumari Sea until June 18 due to strong winds reaching up to 60 kmph.
