Chennai Metro Rail Limited has announced that 96.40 lakh passengers travelled on Chennai Metro trains in February 2026, reflecting strong commuter demand across the city.
According to the official release, a total of 96,40,993 passengers used Chennai Metro services during the month.
Highest Single-Day Ridership
The highest footfall was recorded on February 20, when 3.99 lakh passengers travelled in a single day.
Mode of Ticket Usage
Passenger travel details reveal growing adoption of digital and smart ticketing systems:
- 49,11,328 passengers used the Singara Chennai Card (National Common Mobility Card – NCMC)
- 38,121 passengers travelled using traditional travel cards
- Remaining commuters used tickets booked through various mobile applications and digital platforms
The steady increase in ridership highlights the expanding reliance on Chennai Metro as a key mode of urban transportation.
