Election Commission reply to High Court: Local elections before 15th May
Earlier, the scheduled local elections were as canceled as the quota of seats had not be adhered to. Now, the Election Commission has declared to the High Court that the local elections will be held before 15th May.
Following the cancellation of local elections, the Election Commission had appealed against it. This case came up for enquiry today (Monday, 20th February). The Election Commission has replied as above.
However, the High Court has categorically declared that it is not ready to accept any tentative dates: It wants the exact dates when local elections will be conducted.
