The latest decline follows several days of falling gold prices, bringing the cumulative reduction over the past four days to ₹2,920 per sovereign. With precious metals experiencing significant price movements, investors are closely watching market trends to assess their next steps.

22-carat gold (1 sovereign/8 grams): ₹1,08,120

The fall in gold prices comes after another reduction on Tuesday, October 14. On that day, the price of gold declined by ₹95 per gram and ₹760 per sovereign, bringing the rates to ₹13,590 per gram and ₹1,08,720 per sovereign.

Gold Prices Fall More Than ₹7,000 Since October Began

Gold prices have experienced considerable fluctuations over the past few months. In August, the price of 22-carat gold reached ₹1,16,040 per sovereign.

Prices began declining in September, with occasional fluctuations along the way. Since the beginning of October, the downward trend has continued, with the sovereign rate falling by more than ₹7,000, according to the figures provided.

The latest reduction has renewed interest among consumers planning jewellery purchases and investors monitoring entry prices in the gold market.

Silver Sees a Sharp Single-Day Decline

Silver also recorded a significant price movement on October 15. After remaining unchanged for more than 10 days, its price dropped by ₹5 per gram to ₹240.

The price of a one-kilogram silver bar fell by ₹5,000 to ₹2,40,000. The simultaneous decline in gold and silver prices has brought both metals into focus for buyers considering precious metal purchases.

Is This the Right Time to Invest in Gold?

Falling gold prices may offer investors an opportunity to reassess their investment plans. However, a price decline does not automatically mean that the market has reached its lowest point.

Gold prices are influenced by several factors, including international demand, movements in the US dollar, interest-rate expectations and global economic uncertainty. A stronger dollar can put pressure on gold prices because the metal becomes more expensive for buyers using other currencies.

If the dollar strengthens further and investment demand for gold weakens, prices could face additional downward pressure. However, market movements remain uncertain, and further declines cannot be guaranteed.

What Should Gold Investors Do Now?

Investors considering gold should evaluate their financial goals, investment horizon and ability to manage price fluctuations. Rather than making decisions basased solely on a single day`s decline, buyers can monitor market trends and consider staggered purchases to spread their entry points over time.

Jewellery buyers should also remember that the final purchase price may include making charges, applicable taxes and other costs.

With gold and silver prices declining together, October 15 has brought a notable change in Chennai`s precious metals market. Whether the downward trend continues will depend on domestic and international market conditions in the coming days.
