According to the Meteorological Department, the system is expected to develop into a cyclonic storm named `Arnab` over the west-central Bay of Bengal by October 26. It is also likely to make landfall between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Heavy rain has been lashing Puducherry, leaving residential areas and low-lying regions waterlogged. Floodwater on roads has also caused traffic congestion in several locations.
