Egg Prices Hit an All Time High in Namakkal

Egg procurement prices in Namakkal have reached a record high, marking the highest level in the region`s history. The procurement price has been increased to ₹6.75 per egg.

Why Are Egg Prices Rising?

The continuous rise in egg prices is mainly attributed to the increasing cost of poultry feed, including maize, soybean meal, and fish meal. As feed prices continue to climb, the overall cost of egg production has also increased.

Production Declines Amid Rising Costs

In addition to higher feed costs, extreme summer temperatures have reduced egg production, further affecting supply.

At the same time, demand has increased due to the government`s nutritious meal scheme and higher consumption in neighbouring states.

As a result, retail egg prices in major cities are expected to rise to around ₹7.50 to ₹8.50 per egg.
