Summer holidays have officially begun for students of Classes 1 to 9 in Tamil Nadu from April 17, following the completion of final examinations on April 16.

According to the Tamil Nadu School Education Department, government and government-aided schools across the state will remain closed for the summer break and will reopen on June 1 for the new academic year.

However, teachers working in primary, middle, high, and higher secondary schools—including those handling LKG and UKG classes—have been instructed to attend school until April 25. During this period, they will be engaged in answer sheet evaluation and election-related duties.

Officials also announced that teachers handling Classes 1 to 3 will undergo district-level training from June 1 to June 3 as part of preparations for the upcoming academic year. Due to this training, classes for students in Classes 1 to 3 will commence from June 4.

The announcement aims to ensure a smooth transition into the new academic session while maintaining academic and administrative readiness across schools in Tamil Nadu.
