Chennai Gold Rate Today, August 28, 2026: Gold Prices Fall by ₹75 Per Gram

Gold prices declined in the latest morning update on August 28, 2026, according to the Madras Jewellers & Diamond Traders Association (MJDTA).

As per the latest update, both 22-carat and 18-carat gold prices fell by ₹75 per gram, while the silver rate dropped by ₹5 per gram.

18K Gold – 1 Gram: ₹12,420 (Down ₹75)

Silver – 1 Gram: ₹260 (Down ₹5)

Based on today`s 22K gold rate in Chennai, the price of 8 grams (1 sovereign) is approximately ₹1,17,200. This amount excludes jewellery making charges, GST and other applicable costs.
