3 Free LPG Cylinders Every Year; Women’s Free Travel Scheme to Be Expanded

The Annapoorani Super Six Scheme will initially provide three free LPG cylinders every year, Chief Minister Vijay announced under Rule 110 in the Assembly.

The cost of the LPG cylinders will be credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. The scheme is scheduled to come into effect from Pongal 2027.

Around 1.30 crore families across Tamil Nadu are expected to benefit from the three free LPG cylinders. The scheme is estimated to involve an additional annual expenditure of around Rs. 4,000 crore.

Chief Minister Vijay also announced that the women’s free travel scheme will be expanded from October 2 under the Vetri Payanam scheme. Women will be able to travel free of cost on express and deluxe buses as part of the expansion.

Who Will Get 3 Free LPG Cylinders?

The scheme will benefit economically weaker families with an annual income of up to Rs. 2.5 lakh, as well as small and marginal farming families, families with persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable families in society.
