The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and moderate rainfall across parts of Tamil Nadu till March 22 (Sunday).
The weather change is due to a cyclonic circulation extending from the Gulf of Mannar to South Interior Karnataka, which is influencing rainfall activity in the region.

March 19 to March 22:
Rain with thunder and lightning likely in isolated places across Tamil Nadu, including Puducherry and Karaikal
March 23 & 24:
Light rain expected in Western Ghats districts and southern Tamil Nadu
Other regions may experience dry weather conditions

- Light rain with thunderstorms possible in some areas
Temperature:
Maximum temperatures likely to remain slightly below normal in a few places till March 22

- Varattupallam (Erode): 90 mm
- Kazhugumalai (Thoothukudi): 80 mm
- Nagapattinam, Usilampatti, Vattamalai (Tiruppur): 50 mm
- Karaikal: 40 mm
- Several other places recorded around 30 mm rainfall
