A new suburban “flying train” service connecting Parangimalai railway station and Chennai Beach railway station is set to commence operations on March 7, providing improved rail connectivity for daily commuters in Chennai.

The service will operate on the elevated corridor, strengthening integration between MRTS and suburban rail networks. Railway officials stated that necessary infrastructure upgrades and safety inspections have been completed ahead of the launch.

Boost to Chennai Suburban Connectivity

The new route is expected to:

- Reduce travel time between southern and northern parts of Chennai

- Improve connectivity to key commercial and residential hubs

- Ease congestion on parallel road corridors

The flying train service is part of broader efforts by Southern Railway to enhance suburban rail operations and passenger convenience.

Improved Commuter Experience

Additional coaches have been arranged to handle passenger demand, and safety clearance has been obtained before commencing operations. The new service is likely to benefit thousands of office-goers and daily commuters.
