Traffic Diversions Near Kilambakkam Skywalk Due to Repair Work
Traffic movement on GST Road near Kilambakkam was affected on Monday as rectification work began on the Kilambakkam Integrated Skywalk. Vehicles were temporarily diverted through the Kilambakkam bus terminus to facilitate repair and strengthening of the elevated pedestrian structure.
The diversion caused slow traffic flow, especially during morning and evening peak hours. Motorists have been advised to follow alternative routes and cooperate with traffic police until the work is completed.
The ₹79-crore skywalk is designed to connect the Kilambakkam bus terminus with the upcoming railway halt station, providing safe access for commuters. Officials said the structure will undergo a detailed inspection, and necessary repairs will be carried out to ensure public safety.
