A modern bus stand constructed at a cost of ₹1.80 crore in Madhavaram, Chennai, is now ready for inauguration. The bus stand is located in Madhavaram Assembly Constituency, Zone 3, Ward 25, and plays a vital role in city transport connectivity.
From the Madhavaram Bus Stand, MTC buses operate to key destinations such as Koyambedu, the High Court, and other major routes. Due to its importance for education, employment, business, and medical travel, the bus stand witnesses heavy passenger footfall every day.
Following public requests, MLA S. Sudharsanam took steps to modernise the facility. A resolution for the upgrade was placed before the Chennai Corporation Council by Zonal Committee Chairman Nandagopal. Under the North Chennai Development Programme, the project was approved with an estimated budget of ₹1.80 crore, and construction work began in May.
The redevelopment was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Engineer Saravanamoorthi. The upgraded bus stand includes modern passenger seating, a breastfeeding room for mothers, a decorative entrance arch, and other essential amenities.
With construction work now fully completed, corporation officials have confirmed that the Madhavaram Bus Stand is ready and will be opened for public use soon, offering improved facilities and convenience to daily commuters.
