Chennai Extends Deadline for Pet Dog Microchipping to Dec. 14

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has extended the deadline for pet owners to microchip their dogs and obtain ownership certificates to December 14, citing ongoing rain.
So far, 91,711 pets have been registered and 45,916 licensed. Microchipping, anti-rabies vaccination, and registration are mandatory for ownership, and the microchip must include the owner’s details.
The service is free and available at six GCC centres from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
Pet owners are urged to complete the process before the new deadline to avoid penalties.
