The Alandur–Guindy Asarkana bus stop in Chennai is being renovated under the MLA Constituency Fund at a cost of ₹1.5 crore.
The new facility will feature AC seating, LED lighting, and separate toilets for men and women.
Earlier, the 2015-built shelter worth ₹1.25 crore was poorly maintained, causing inconvenience to women, elderly, and pregnant commuters.
The upgraded 180 ft-long modern bus shelter aims to provide a clean and comfortable waiting space for passengers.
Highways officials said that the construction work will be completed and it will be opened to public use within the next four months.
