What is making the lives of women passengers difficult at Chennai airport now?
The vending machines present in the women`s restrooms in all the 3 terminals in the Chennai airport lack sanitary napkins. This has been creating issues for many women passengers now at the airport. It is known that these days many women travel in the flights to reach their destinations.
The AAI or Airport Authority of India had installed automatic vending machines in the restrooms for the sake of the female passengers in both arrival as well as departure areas.
It is worth noting here that these vending machines display a no stock message and by this the women passengers are finding it difficult during emergencies especially after passing through the security checkpoints. It must be taken into note that the passengers are not allowed to exit after the completion of security checks. Women security officers are being sought after by the women passengers for help etc.
Airport security regulations get violated when a security officer helps women passengers to get sanitary products etc from the pharmacies inside the airport. This has been creating more distress and embarrassment for the women passengers. The AAI authorities have ensured better stock availability. It was brought out by some female passengers that smoking zones in the airport have been marked clearly and maintained well whereas essential women facilities are being ignored.
The women passengers have urged the AAI authorities to make sure that all vending machines are regularly refilled and maintained well with a strict monitoring method.
