Sensational and for the FIRST time - 4th Asian Surfing Championship to be held at Mamallapuram near Chennai!!
Soon, the state of Tamil Nadu would be adding one more feather to its cap!!
For the very first time in India, the Asian Surfing Championship event would be held, guess where?
It will take place from 3rd to 12th August 2025 at Mamallapuram near Chennai. Sounds incredible right!!
Mr. Udayanidhi Stalin, deputy chief minister for TN took part in a press conference in Chennai yesterday. He mentioned that he was happy and proud that Tamil Nadu would be hosting the Asian Surfing Championship this time around. Truth is that the state of Tamil Nadu is emerging as the leading state across India in the field of sports.
Sports lovers would be able to recollect that in the last few years many sporting events both national and international have been hosted by Tamil Nadu. These include the Fide Chess Tournament, Squash World Cup, Asian Hockey Championships Trophy, National Hockey Championships, Cylothon, Khelo India Youth Games 2023 etc.
The upcoming Asian Surfing Championship would be a very important event as it would be the final qualifier for the 2026 Asian Games. It is known that the 2026 Asian Games will be held in Japan.
The sensational piece of information is that the state of TN is ranked FIRST in surfing across the entire India. About 20 countries would be taking part in the championship. The surfing championship event would witness about 150 athletes. It is believed that this event would boost the surfing tourism of TN.
Not many of us would be aware of the fact that out of 4 Indian surfers who took part in the 2023 World Surfing Games as many as 3 were from TN. It must be recalled that out of 8 athletes who took part in the previous Asian Surfing Championship as many as 7 were from TN.
It is superb to mention here that out of 12 athletes who would be taking part in the upcoming Asian Surfing Championship 2026 as many as 10 would be from Tamil Nadu. Go Tamil Nadu Go!!
