The Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) has begun trials for its upcoming ‘Anna Ride Booking’ mobile app a common ticketing platform that will soon allow commuters to plan and pay for city travel using a single ticket across multiple modes of transport.
Key Highlights:
Launch Timeline: End of July 2025
Transport Options:
- MTC buses
- Chennai Metro Rail
- Autorickshaws
- Future inclusion: Suburban & MRTS trains, Namma Yatri cabs
The app enables commuters to enter their start and end points, choose from available modes (like buses, metro, and autos), and make payment. A QR code will be generated to be scanned during the journey.
Trials are already underway on MTC buses and Metro Rail, while agreements with the railways for suburban and MRTS trains are expected by August.
CUMTA is also working to integrate real-time vehicle tracking for accurate bus and train timings to help passengers plan cost-effective and efficient travel across Chennai.
