Chennai Identifies 9 Prime Locations for EV Charging Stations – Work to Begin Soon
In a significant push towards promoting sustainable transportation, the Greater Chennai Corporation has announced plans to set up Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations at nine key locations across the city. This initiative aims to boost the adoption of electric vehicles in Chennai by improving charging infrastructure.
According to Corporation officials, tenders for the project will be invited within the next two weeks, and the installation of EV charging stations in Chennai is expected to commence soon after.
EV Charging Station Locations in Chennai:
1. Besant Nagar – Ashtalakshmi Temple Parking
2. Besant Nagar Beach Parking Area
3. Ambattur – Mangal Lake Parking
4. T. Nagar – Corporation Ground Parking
5. T. Nagar – Somasundaram Ground
6. Semmozhi Park – Thousand Lights
7. Marina Beach Parking Zone
8. Anna Nagar – Bogan Villa Park
9. Mylapore – Nageswara Rao Park
These public EV charging stations will cater to two-wheelers, cars, and other compatible electric vehicles, making green mobility in Chennai more accessible to residents and tourists alike.
Officials noted that these locations were selected based on accessibility, footfall, and traffic density, ensuring maximum utilization of the infrastructure.
