If you should board your train without missing it, be present at the Central railway station an hour before your actual travel time. Further to the blasts at Chennai Central on May 1, security is tightened at the station and the station is found with long queues being formed for security check formalities.

Commenting on this, a railway police said the security clearance is just a one minute process, but it is the long queue that is spotted as a hindrance to commuters. Currently, over 2.2 lakh passengers travel from Chennai Central. The recently introduced security check system has left most passengers panicked and missing their trains. Some are even found pulling the chain, badly wanting their family to board with them too.

There are nearly ten cases of chain pulling each of which were for their family or friends to board the train. There may be even more numbers which are left unregistered. Speaking to one of the passengers about this new rule, he says he had to reach the station half an hour early previously, but they have mandated the commuters to be present one hour before.
