On Saturday night, train services were affected for about 1.5 hours near Tirumullaivoyal station after a contact wire (OHE) snapped.
- An EMU train from Chennai Central to Arakkonam was impacted when its pantograph touched the broken wire.
- Services resumed by 10:00 pm, after the train was taken to the EMU shed.
- Several following trains were halted or diverted temporarily.
Pantographs are the roof-mounted devices on electric trains that collect power from overhead wires, and damage to them can cause temporary service disruptions.
