Chennai Corporation to Install Digital Climate Display Boards at 100 Locations
The Greater Chennai Corporation has announced a new initiative to enhance public access to real-time weather and environmental information by installing digital climate display boards at 100 locations across Chennai.
These digital boards will display 19 key climate parameters, including rainfall, temperature, air quality index (AQI), wind speed, wind direction, and levels of harmful gases in the air. The data will be updated in real time, allowing citizens to stay informed about changing weather and air conditions.
The project will be implemented at a total cost of ₹6.36 crore and is scheduled for completion by February 2026. The boards will be installed in major public places and high-traffic areas across Chennai.
This initiative is part of Chennai’s smart city and climate-resilience efforts, aimed at improving public awareness, environmental transparency, and preparedness during extreme weather events.
