Thai Amavasai 2026: Special Buses to Operate From Chennai and Other Cities to Rameswaram
As Thai Amavasai falls on Sunday, January 18, a large number of devotees are expected to travel to Rameswaram for ritual observances. In view of the anticipated rush, special bus services will be operated on Saturday, January 17, from Chennai and other major cities.
According to a press release issued by the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC), additional buses will be operated to facilitate smooth travel for pilgrims.
Special Bus Services for Thai Amavasai
The transport corporation has announced that special buses will operate:
- From Kilambakkam Bus Terminus, Chennai
- From Salem
- From Coimbatore
- From Bengaluru
to Rameswaram on Saturday (January 17).
Similarly, additional special buses will be operated on Sunday (January 18) from Rameswaram to Kilambakkam (Chennai), Salem, Coimbatore, and Bengaluru to manage the return travel of devotees.
