Rs 100 Discount on Monthly Travel Passes via Chennai One App to Promote Digital Payments
To promote digital transactions across Chennai’s public transport system, the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) has announced a special discount for commuters purchasing monthly travel passes through the ‘Chennai One’ mobile application.
Currently, around 70,000 commuters travel using ₹1,000 and ₹2,000 monthly unlimited travel passes across Chennai’s city buses, Metro Rail, and suburban train services. Recently, the facility to purchase these monthly passes via the Chennai One app was introduced.
As part of a limited-period offer, commuters purchasing ₹1,000 or ₹2,000 monthly passes through the app will receive a ₹100 discount. Of this, ₹50 will be given as an instant price reduction, while the remaining ₹50 will be credited as a cashback for payments made through UPI.
Officials stated that the offer is available only for a limited time. The initiative aims to reduce long queues at bus terminals, encourage cashless payments, and make the process of obtaining monthly travel passes more convenient for passengers. The Chennai One app continues to introduce various incentives to increase digital adoption among public transport users.
