It is now said that the AAI or Airport Authority of India officials are having plans to fix a walkalator over the ramp on the pathway that connects T2 terminal with the multilevel car parking facility.
It is worthy to note that the international passengers with heavy baggage find it difficult to pull their baggage over the ramp on the pathway and walk to the parking facility for taking a cab. The AAI has now proposed this superb plan to help these international passengers.
The cab pick-up point has been moved to the parking area at the Chennai airport and due to this the passengers struggle to board their cabs. Truth is that the ramp on the pathway has been very steep and it was thought that installation of a walkalator would provide a suitable solution for the passengers.
It was brought out by an official at the Chennai airport that the international passengers have more than one baggage and a walkator would be convenient for them. He added that many buggy vehicles ply between the terminals and parking lot. From T1 domestic terminal, the majority of the passengers take buggy vehicles. From T1 and T2 terminals many passengers walk from the arrival hall to the parking lot through this footpath.
Important piece of information is that soon AAI would float bids for the installation of a walkalator and in the coming months the work would begin at the airport. It was mentioned by a frequent traveller that the plan to install a walkalator was a superb one. He spoke about how the AAI personnel must think about the passenger`s situation also. He concluded that before shifting the cab pick-up point the authorities should have installed all the facilities.
