The Southern Railway has announced that the Chennai Division will function for only one shift on Monday, October 20, in view of the Diwali national holiday.
According to a press release issued by Southern Railway, computerised passenger reservation centres in the division will operate following the Sunday pattern of working, functioning from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on that day.
Similarly, suburban train services will also follow the Sunday timetable on Monday. This includes services on the Chennai Central–Arakkonam, Chennai Central–Gummidipundi/Sullurupeta, and Chennai Beach–Chengalpattu routes.
The Southern Railway has advised passengers to plan their travel accordingly, as train frequency will be limited in line with the Sunday schedule.
