Greater Chennai Corporations budget session for FY 2023-24 commences today

The Greater Chennai Corporation`s budget session for the financial year 2023-2024 is set to begin today, March 27, under the chairmanship of the city`s Mayor, R Priya, for the second consecutive year.
As per reports, over four lakh property owners are yet to pay their taxes for the financial year 2022-2023. Many citizens have urged the civic body for a cut in property tax rates, and there are hopes that the tax will be revised in the upcoming financial year. Additionally, several announcements are expected to be made during the session for the benefit of the citizens.
Moreover, during the monthly council meeting held earlier, ward members had requested an increase in the development fund for the financial year 2023-2024.
In the current financial year 2022-2023, the Mayor had made several announcements, including a QR code payment method for property tax and the redevelopment of at least 1,000 bus shelters under a public-private partnership.
